The 2001 Gay/Lesbian Consumer Online Census launched the most in-depth study, exploring the patterns of the worldwide Gay/Lesbian community (with 6,351 respondents participating in the 40 minute survey in 2001). Participation of last year's 2002 Gay/Lesbian Consumer Online Census was conducted July 9th through August 18th of 2002 (with 8,831 respondents participating a 39 percent increase over 2001).
Gays and Lesbians were encouraged to “Stand Up and Be Counted”, by spreading the word through the rest of the Community. Gay/Lesbian clout has widely been ignored in the past. The G/L Census is an opportunity to provide pertinent information to advertisers and marketers. The Census is a joint project of OpusComm Group (founding partner) and the S.I, Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University.
